A unique walking trail
The "sentier des Douaniers" can be explored freely by families or friends, but the tourist office also offers guided walks in a relaxed atmosphere. Take a stroll along the cornice along the pathway, listening to the sound of the waves from the nearby sea. There are many surprises along the way. You'll come across original rock formations such as the Pont du Diable (Devil's Bridge) and the Puits de l'Auture, a hole in the rocks where the waves penetrate. You'll also see Belle Epoque-style villas and even fishing huts. Part of the Sentier des Douaniers is signposted for ramblers, so you can continue towards the La Coubre forest for a longer walk.
Discover the beaches on the Douaniers trail
The Douaniers trail crosses the beaches of the Saint-Palais-sur-Mer coast. From Nauzan beach at Vaux-sur-Mer to the vast Grande Côte beach framed by dunes and forest, continuing on to the Grande Conche beach at Royan, The campsite is located in the heart of the Gironde estuary. You can continue to the Pointe de Suzac, less than 2 km from the Océan Vacances campsite, for a magnificent view of the Gironde estuary. Superb views of the sea await you. As you pass along the beaches of the sentier des Douaniers, you'll have plenty of opportunity to stop and enjoy the scenery.

A Saint-Palais-sur-Mer, The Maison des Douanes welcomes you along your walk. It's a great place to take a break from art and culture and discover some great exhibitions by contemporary artists in an exceptional setting. It is open to all free of charge.
