This site is one of the 14 nature centres in the Charente-Maritime. Visitors of all ages can get to know Europe's largest estuary, Discover its history and special features, from the wooded environment of the Vallières forest to the limestone cliffs and fine sandy conches. The estuary park is dotted with points of interest not to be missed during your visit. The Villa de l'Estuaire houses permanent and temporary exhibitions, as well as a fully reconstructed engine room. The path leads to a 60-metre-high watchtower, which offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the whole estuary: a sight that can only be gained by climbing a hundred or so steps. From the watchtower, you can see the ocean, the Cordouan lighthouse, the Royan's beautiful beaches and in the distance beaches of Saint Palais sur Mer and the Suzac pine forest.
